Interdependence in Female Labor Supply: Role of Numbers and Composition

This study investigates the influence of interdependence and social dynamics on female labor force participation in India, which is extremely low at 20%. Specifically, we examine how number and composition of other women working in one’s village enters a woman’s labor supply function or decision making about taking up work. This project will be conducted in collaboration with a government program aiming to recruit over 3000 individuals to increase diversity, by gender and socio-economic status, of AI data labeling.
