The Workshop on Trade and the Chinese Economy aimed to connect and establish a network of prominent scholars who study the causes and implications of China’s emergence as a major trade partner with many nations and its engagement with globalization.

Organizing committee: Stanford economist Kyle Bagwell, Matilde Bombardini from the University of British Columbia and current Visiting Associate Professor at Stanford, Hongbin Li, the James Liang Director of the China Program at the Stanford Center on Global Poverty and Development, and Heiwai Tang from Johns Hopkins University and current visiting Stanford scholar.
