About the Speakers:
Eran Bendavid, Faculty Affiliate at the King Center on Global Development

Eran Bendavid is an infectious diseases physician and an associate professor of medicine. He is affiliated with Stanford Health Policy, the Center for Population Health Sciences, the Woods Institute for the Environment, and the Division of Infectious Diseases. His research interests involve the relationship between large-scale events such as policy changes or environmental shocks and health outcomes among populations, mostly in less-resourced communities. Major areas of interest include the health effects associated with foreign assistance decisions, extreme events, early life policies such as schooling, and air pollution. He also uses disease modelling to explore resource allocation and infectious disease control in low and middle-income countries.
Professor Bendavid received a BA in chemistry and philosophy from Dartmouth College, and an MD from Harvard Medical School. His residency in internal medicine and fellowship in infectious diseases were completed at Stanford.
Soledad Artiz Prillaman, Faculty Affiliate at the King Center on Global Development

Soledad Artiz Prillaman is an assistant professor of political science at Stanford University. She received a PhD in government at Harvard University in 2017 and a BA in political science and economics from Texas A&M University in 2011.
Professor Prillaman’s research lies at the intersections of comparative political economy, development, and gender, with a focus in South Asia. She investigates the political consequences of development; the political behavior and representation of minorities, specifically women; inequalities in political engagement; and the translation of voter demands.
