Politicians' Communication and Accountability
Informed voters can make better choices and hold politicians accountable. But voters' information is influenced by politicians. How do politicians choose to communicate, and how do they take different voter attributes into account? Are voters sophisticated in their understanding of politicians' responsibilities, and how politicians' messages change voters' perceptions? We study these questions through an information field experiment in the context of a child immunization crisis in Brazil, where coverage rates have fallen sharply and mayors' are responsible for on-the-ground execution of policies.
