Research Assistants for Faculty
Academic Year Part-time Research Assistant Program
This program provides support for part-time, undergraduate, or master's student research assistants for King Center faculty affiliates working on global development challenges relevant for low- and middle-income countries. Student research assistants may work up to 15 hours per week and must be enrolled full time to participate.
King Center faculty affiliates may request one undergraduate student or master's student research assistant per quarter or for the academic year. Faculty may have a particular student in mind or King Center staff can help advertise and collect student applications for each position.
The King Center manages the hiring, administration, and funding for student research assistants. Faculty will be responsible for other research costs, such as equipment and software.
The fall quarter faculty proposal deadline for priority consideration is September 1, 2021. Deadlines for winter and spring quarters will be approximately one month before the beginning of the quarter. Faculty interested in hiring a Stanford undergraduate student or master's student as an RA for fall, winter, and/or spring quarter(s) should complete this form.
Summer Undergraduate Full-time Research Assistant Program
This program allows undergraduate students to gain research experience addressing global development challenges in low- and middle-income countries, and provides faculty with full-time, no-cost research assistants for the summer quarter. Preference will be given to field research opportunities.
Students will receive a stipend that covers most associated costs including travel, lodging, financial aid, and incidental expenses. Faculty will be responsible for other research costs, such as transportation to field sites, software, or equipment.
Faculty who are interested in having a full-time, undergraduate research assistant for summer quarter during the 2021 - 2022 academic year should complete this form by Monday, January 10, 2022.
King Center staff can advertise and process applications and can also support the selection process as needed. Faculty may also have a particular student in mind.
