Research Assistants for Faculty
Academic Year Part-Time Research Assistant Program
This program provides support for part-time, undergraduate student research assistants for King Center faculty affiliates working on global development challenges relevant for low- and middle-income countries. Student research assistants work no more than 10 hours per week and must be enrolled full time to participate. Students receive a stipend of $1,500 per quarter.
King Center faculty affiliates may request one undergraduate student student research assistant per quarter or for the academic year (excluding summer quarter). Faculty may have a particular student in mind or King Center staff can help advertise and collect student applications from which faculty will select a student for each position.
The King Center manages the hiring, administration, and funding for student research assistants. Faculty will be responsible for other research costs, such as equipment and software.
Faculty interested in hiring a Stanford undergraduate student as a part-time, research assistant for fall, winter, and/or spring quarter(s) should complete this form.
We accept proposals each academic quarter (fall, winter, spring), four weeks before the start of the quarter in which a part-time, research assistant is requested.
Please note that priority will be given to proposals submitted before September 1st and/or request a three-quarter RA (i.e. an RA for fall through spring).
Please contact the King Center at kingcenter@stanford.edu with any questions.

Summer Undergraduate Full-time Research Assistant Program
This program allows undergraduate students to gain research experience addressing global development challenges in low- and middle-income countries, and provides faculty with full-time, no-cost research assistants for the summer quarter.
Preference will be given to field research opportunities should Stanford policies allow for undergraduate student travel. All proposals will need to incorporate a remote work option should field research not be allowed for undergraduate students this summer.
Faculty who are interested in having a full-time, undergraduate research assistant for summer quarter during the 2022 - 2023 academic year should submit a request by completing this form. The King Center will contact you to confirm support of your research assistant request.
Students will receive a stipend that covers most associated costs including financial aid, incidental expenses and, should travel be allowed, travel and lodging costs. Faculty will be responsible for other research costs, such as transportation to field sites, software, or equipment.
If you have not already identified a student, the King Center will advertise the research position and administer the student application process. Faculty will select the student research assistant from applications to their position.
Please contact the King Center at kingcenter@stanford.edu with any questions.
