Michael Tomz is the William Bennett Munro Professor in the department of political science at Stanford University. He is also a senior fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, a faculty affiliate at the Stanford King Center on Global Development, and the Landreth Family University Fellow in Undergraduate Education.

He is affiliated with the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law, the Center for International Security and Cooperation, the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences, and the Woods Institute for the Environment.

His research interests include international relations, political economy, public opinion, and methodology.
