Department of Earth System Science
Scott Fendorf is the Terry Huffington Professor of Earth Systems Science, the senior associate dean for academic affairs, and a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. He holds a BS from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; an MS from the University of California, Berkeley; and a PhD in soil and environmental chemistry from the University of Delaware.
Fendorf's research seeks to define chemical, biological, and hydrological processes that drive the cycling of trace elements within soils, sediments, and surface waters. His research uses molecular-level techniques to define the processes under study and to examine time-dependent kinetic factors. He is particularly interested in chemical environments and reactions involving contaminants and nutrients.
