India's Economy: The Next Five Years
While much has been done to reform India’s economy, many challenges lie ahead. Given the relatively young and growing population, more must be done to free up the economy and allow it to grow. Before growth can occur, there are five major challenges to be faced: the fiscal situation of the Central and State governments, attitude towards reforms, high poverty in some States, maintaining bipartisan support for reforms, and finishing reforms in progress. This paper also cites estimates of macroeconomic indicators for various growth rates, as well as estimates for poverty rates across states.
