The Rise and Fall of Vietnam's COVID-19 Pandemic Preparedness Infrastructure: How COVID-19 Affects Vietnam's Economy, Science and Politics

Tién-Dung Hà's exploratory research will examine how the pandemic can pose great challenges for the Vietnamese economy and people, while providing opportunities for the country's biotechnology companies to develop their own vaccines and advance Vietnam's science and medicine. Hà will particularly focus on the garment industry because it is one of the most important economic links between Vietnam and the US. Hà will also study the perceptions of the Vietnamese people on the Chinese vaccine, more particularly their hesitancy to accept the Chinese vaccine. This will contribute a more nuanced understanding on the intersection between health, governance, and politics.
