James D. Fearon is Theodore and Frances Geballe Professor in Stanford University’s School of Humanities and Sciences, professor of political science, and a senior fellow at the Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Studies. His research focuses mainly on armed conflict and political violence.

Fearon is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a program member of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. He holds a BA from Harvard University and an MA and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
